ABOUT US

The Global Alliance

The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty represents an innovative approach to accelerate efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 (No Poverty) and 2 (Zero Hunger).

It aims to provide continuous political drive and foster collective action, building synergies with pre-existing initiatives to combat hunger and poverty. Its mission is to facilitate mobilization and enhance alignment between national and international support, including public and private financial resources as well as knowledge-sharing, to enable the large-scale implementation of evidence-based policy instruments and programs, led by and owned by countries, centred around those most affected by extreme poverty and hunger and people in vulnerable contexts.

The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty welcomes the participation of countries, organizations, and platforms, aiming to leverage innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making to support the implementation of policies and programs.

Our mission is to support and accelerate efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty while reducing inequalities and contributing to revitalising global partnerships for sustainable development.

SPRINTS

The 2030 Sprints are the widest and most ambitious collective attempt ever to turn the tide and finally end hunger and extreme poverty by focusing on scaling up interventions with a proven track-record in uplifting the world’s poorest and most vulnerable populations.

POLICY BASKET

The Policy Basket is the heart of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. It provides a menu of policy instruments and programs that can be applied as-is or adapted to specific contexts, with financial and technical support from Alliance members upon request. The policy instruments and programs are selected based on the following criteria: a clear scope; implementable/implemented by governments; evidence-based; primarily reaching out to persons experiencing hunger and poverty; and contributing primarily to reach SDGs 1 and 2.

Explore the Policy Basket 50 policy instruments divided into seven broad categories The Policy Basket is the core of the Alliance, providing a menu of curated effective policy instruments to fight poverty and hunger. Explore Policies Now Member countries can select policy instruments from the Basket and request the Alliance’s support to implement them domestically, assisted by members of the Financial Support and/or the Knowledge pillars. Curated Policy Solutions A variety of country examples Contributions to and use of the Policy Basket are completely voluntary, fostering a collaborative environment for sharing best practices. Global Knowledge Exchange The instruments in the Basket are translated in a general policy instrument with a brief description of main features; and country examples to highlight variations in design, implementation, and impacts global-alliance-against-hunger-poverty-countries global-alliance-hunger-poverty-g20-countries food-hunger-global-alliance worker-global-alliance-social-protection
