Both nations stressed the role of political efforts in tackling hunger

Brazil and France celebrated the United Nations (UN) General Assembly’s decision to extend the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition for another five years. The foreign ministries of the two countries issued a joint statement Tuesday evening (Mar. 25).

The Decade of Action was due to end this year. “Aligning it with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” the extension “sustains political momentum at all levels and strengthens a unified effort to eradicate all forms of malnutrition by 2030,” the statement reads.
