Description
The National Integrated School Meals Programme (PNASI) is a government-led initiative to provide nutritious meals to children in primary schools while strengthening local agriculture. The planned programme aims to source all food locally, prioritising small-scale farmers, and invests in kitchens, water and hygiene facilities, nutrition education and school gardens. By 2026, the Government of Benin plans to reach 1.8 million children and support over 100 farmer cooperatives. PNASI is managed by Benin’s National Agency for Food and Nutrition and supports the national strategy to build human capital and reduce poverty.
