O programa \u00e9 inspirado no programa \u201cCisterns\u201d do Brazil, o maior e mais bem-sucedido programa de resili\u00eancia clim\u00e1tica j\u00e1 implementado naquele pa\u00eds. Com o uso de tecnologias de coleta de \u00e1gua de baixo custo que podem ser implementadas com materiais e m\u00e3o de obra de origem local e que tamb\u00e9m podem ser aprendidas socialmente e replicadas espontaneamente em resid\u00eancias e fazendas de pequenos agricultores, o Maji-Plus espera transformar a vida de crian\u00e7as, fam\u00edlias e meninas vulner\u00e1veis, fornecendo acesso \u00e0 \u00e1gua durante todo o ano nas regi\u00f5es da ASAL e, ao mesmo tempo, impulsionando as economias locais.  Ao integrar a educa\u00e7\u00e3o agr\u00edcola e nutricional \u00e0 vida escolar, ele transformar\u00e1 as escolas em centros de sustentabilidade e desenvolvimento local. Alinhada \u00e0s estrat\u00e9gias mais amplas de inclus\u00e3o social do Kenya, ao programa nacional de merenda escolar e \u00e0s metas nacionais de adapta\u00e7\u00e3o clim\u00e1tica, a iniciativa tamb\u00e9m busca melhorar os resultados de aprendizado e nutri\u00e7\u00e3o, principalmente para as meninas, ao mesmo tempo em que fortalece a resili\u00eancia, a seguran\u00e7a alimentar e a redu\u00e7\u00e3o da pobreza em regi\u00f5es
