The Global Alliance announces the appointment of two shared seats to its Board of Champions

The Core Group of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty confirms the appointment of representatives to two shared seats on the Board of Champions, following the review and approval of the proposals submitted by philanthropic foundations and civil society organizations. 

In accordance with the process outlined in the document “Philanthropic Foundations Seat Proposal for the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty’s Board of Champions”, the Global Alliance for the Future of Food, the Ibirapitanga Institute, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will share a seat on the Board. The group will be represented by: 

  • Champion: Andre Degenszajn, CEO, Ibirapitanga Institute 
  • Alternate: Peiman Milani, Food Initiative Director, Rockefeller Foundation 

This representation will be held for a one-year term, after which the group will nominate new representatives. 

Similarly, World Vision International, Ação da Cidadania, Comida do Amanhã, and Instituto Fome Zero will share a seat representing civil society organizations. The group will be represented by: 

  • Champion: Rodrigo “Kiko” Afonso, Executive Director, Ação da Cidadania 
  • Alternate: Juliana Tângari, Co-founder and Director, Comida do Amanhã 

Both groups will serve on the Board of Champions for the remainder of the current three-year mandate, after which a new Board will be constituted.
