Between July 20 and 22, 2026, within the framework of the XVI World Congress of Rural Sociology (International Rural Sociology Association – IRSA) and the 64th Congress of the Brazilian Society of Rural Economics, Administration and Sociology (SOBER), held in Porto Alegre (RS), the Academic Cooperation Working Group in support of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty participated in three activities aimed at strengthening cooperation between universities, governments, and international organizations.
The Working Group’s participation began with the panel “Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty” on July 20, followed by a working meeting with representatives from the universities that are part of the Working Group, held on the morning of July 21, focused on evaluating the activities carried out and discussing prospects for continuity. Also marking the Working Group’s participation in the Congress, on July 22, the Organized Session “Public policies to combat hunger and alleviate poverty: evidence and experiences within the Global Alliance” was held, bringing together researchers linked to the Working Group to present and debate studies related to the theme.
