This side event will present experiences included in the Policy Basket of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty that help expand access to water, strengthen socio-productive inclusion, and promote food and nutrition security in areas vulnerable to drought, land degradation, and desertification.
Representatives from governments and civil society organizations across the Global South will share their experiences, in addition to the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub. Among these will be Brazil’s Cisterns Programme, a global reference in social technologies for water access and climate adaptation.

Celebrating the International Year of the Woman Farmer and the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, the event will elevate family farmers, including women, youth and pastoralist voices, as land managers, knowledge holders and economic actors. Joined by Government champions and international agencies, they will share what solutions look like from the ground up, from agroecology and sustainable land management, to climate resilience and inclusive value chains, and what is needed to scale them.
This session will deliver concrete recommendations to inform UNCCD negotiations and implementation of the Riyadh Action Agenda.
