COP30 High-Level Event – The Fundamental Role of Combating Hunger and Poverty for Climate Justice

2h30 pm - 4h00 pm

The High-Level Ministerial Event “The Fundamental Role of Combating Hunger and Poverty for Climate Justice” will take place on November 10, 2025, from 14:30 to 16:00, at Special Events Room 3 – Auditorium Parnaiba during the UN Climate Change Conference – COP30 in Belém, Brazil.

This event will bring together ministers, international organizations and development partners to discuss the Belém Leaders’ Declaration on Hunger, Poverty and Human-Centred Climate Action, which emphasizes the urgent need to address the unequal impacts of climate change on the most vulnerable populations. The Declaration will be officially launched on November 7 and presented for voluntary adoption by countries at the COP30 Leaders’ Summit.

The discussion will focus on three central pillars for human-centred climate action:

  1. Making social protection a foundation of resilience;
  2. Supporting small-scale food producers as agents of resilience;
  3. Enabling just transitions for peoples in regions of forests and sensitive ecosystems.

The event aims to raise visibility for the Belém Declaration, mobilize financial and knowledge partners for its implementation, and promote the inclusion of hunger and poverty reduction strategies into national climate plans.
