Minister Wellington Dias highlights progress and the role of evidence-based policies in fighting hunger in Brazil

“With its Policy Basket, the Global Alliance is an important instrument for the large-scale implementation of evidence-based policies,” explained Minister Wellington, Co-chair of the Global Alliance Board of Champions

Brazil’s progress in eliminating hunger and poverty is a consequence of the strengthened social policies and an increase in the average income of its population, especially among the poorest, according to Minister Wellington Dias, who serves as Co-chair of the Global Alliance Board of Champions.

“We are not yet satisfied. We must keep advancing policies that promote job creation, income growth, and the guarantee of food and nutritional security,” said Minister Wellington at a recent high-level panel at the ECOVIDA 2026 conference.

“With its Policy Basket, the Global Alliance is an important instrument for the large-scale implementation of evidence-based policies,” he explained.
