The Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa) has officially joined the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, a G20 initiative led by Brazil that seeks to guarantee food security for vulnerable populations around the world. Unipampa projects, such as the community garden in Dom Pedrito, are part of this effort.
According to Professor Juliano Luiz Fossa, who participated in this initiative, the university’s adherence to the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty is a fundamental achievement. “While it integrates us as members into the international debate on public policies related to this issue, it reinforces the institutional commitment to the development of the Pampa Gaúcho region in relation to combating poverty, hunger, and food insecurity. It’s Unipampa from the local to the global,” he assesses.
“We received with great enthusiasm the opportunity for our University to participate in the Alliance. It is of utmost importance that universities can engage in public policies, assisting in the Brazil Without Hunger Plan and the Poverty Reduction Plan, for example,” explains Professor Francéli Brizolla, Vice-Rector of Unipampa.
