Welcome to the fourth edition of Lifting Lives. This month, we focus on the interconnectedness of global challenges, particularly climate change, poverty, and hunger, as discussed in two key events.
The regional forum “Strengthening Rural Livelihoods and Environmental Conservation through Social Protection: Insights from Latin America and the Caribbean for Inclusive Climate Action,” organized by the FAO, IDB, and the Brazilian Ministry of Environment and Climate Change in Brasilia, explored the vital link between poverty and hunger eradication and climate action, aligning with the Global Alliance’s goals. The forum also served as a platform to discuss policy instruments and share regional experiences to inform the Global Alliance’s Policy Basket.
Food and nutrition insecurity remains a pressing global issue, significantly impacting childhood development and hindering socioeconomic progress in many countries. At the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit in Paris, the Global Alliance emphasized its alignment with the N4G agenda, with the summit’s declaration recognizing the mutual benefits of both initiatives in areas like policy support, financing, and evidence-based solutions.
These events reinforce the necessity of integrated solutions to address hunger, poverty, and environmental challenges, and the Global Alliance’s commitment to a holistic strategy.
